Responses to The Importance of a Personal Relationship with God and His Son

Thanks so much for a very good essay. This is a problem I struggle with continuously, almost wishing I could go back [to] total faith in JWs just to have something to hang on to, and I see from what you wrote that this would be a borrowed faith, and that’s all I ever really had.

I know that fear of being alone with a relationship with God and Christ, I guess it is a human failing to want something tangible, like an organization and specified works that you can see to rely on to tell you you are right with God, the relationship you describe would take a real living faith, the only kind acceptable to God.

I look forward to hearing more on the subject, and want to thank you so very much for sharing this. I feel I’m only beginning my journey to such a living faith, and appreciate the help this article gave me, and hope you will write more.

This article strengthened me in my desire to not “lose my soul” and to pray harder to live by Christian standards although I really don’t have anyone to have Christian fellowship with, and am alone in spiritual interests in my family, except for my son who is Mormon. which is really just a replacement for him for the JWs. I’m going to try and get him to read your essay.

With Christian Love,

I just read your essay. Thank you! My family and I are isolated from others who have left the Watchtower. The only “association” with other former witnesses is on the internet but it is very hard! Many have lost faith in the Bible and or God. It becomes wearisome, we are unable to hold our own many times. We are not interested in joining another religion so, here we sit. We sometimes feel very alone and very down. But then the Almighty helps us and our spirits are picked up and we keep going!

So, your essay today was a stream of fresh water. What it said to me was, “You are not alone!”

Thank you very much!
